      Distributor types and theory of operation

      This article covers the three major type of distributors used on RHP 4.3L - 10.3L engines and their theory of operation.

       

      The three major types of distributors are as follows:

      1. High Energy Ignition (HEI) Distributors
      2. Electronic Spark Timing (EST) Distributors
      3. High Voltage Switch (HVS) Distributors
